OUTBACK OPAL MINE

Ideally situated 30 minutes north of Cairns in North Queensland, Australia, a visit to the Outback Opal Mine is a light-hearted educational experience.

An 8 minute documentary (available in English, German, and Japanese) provides an insight into Australia's National Gemstone through aerial views of the opal fields and unique underground scenes of the miners prospecting.

After viewing the documentary, a tour through the simulated opal mine features an extensive range of rough opal embedded in the walls, offering visitors a greater understanding of the different types of opal. With their new found knowledge, customers can confidently make suitable and satisfying selections.
