OLD TIMERS MINE

Located Coober Pedy  

This unique opal mine (first mined in 1916) depicts the history of opal mining with all the mystery of searching for opal underground, with the safety of a walk-in, ground level mine.

This attraction incorporates two underground homes; walk through mine, two sandstone sculptures (camel and miner), and view three large good quality opal seams, opalised sea shells in the roof, jewellery, souvenirs and many other displays on Coober Pedy.

Free demonstrations tunnelling machine and blower. The Tour is self guided with written guides in a number of different Languages. (French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Dutch).
